EXCERPT FROM THE PREFACE BY BISHOP RUTH W. SMITH
Several months ago, one of my family members taught a lesson comparing the love of a mother to the love of God. He talked about all the things he went through as a youth and how his mother walked through those difficult times with him. As he was speaking, I kept thinking to myself, “What would make a mother go through that, persevere like that? What would make a mother hold on so tightly when she really wants to dust her hands?” The more I heard what he said, the more I thought to myself, “It is the love of God.” The love a mother or a father has for their children cannot simply be a natural human characteristic. It must be spawned by something much greater than limited human emotion. There must be more to it. There is more to it. When our fleshly selves push us to quit and we no longer feel like giving love, God helps us to keep on loving.
EXCERPT FROM THE FOREWARD
"Bishop Smith has shared that we must first open ourselves up before God in order that this strong and enduring love can flow from Him through us. Securing love this way gives God a chance to place His Holy Protection and approval on love before it enters our hearts."
Dr. Samuel Chand, President, Samuel Chand Consulting
BOOK PRAISES
"Dr. Ruth’s book A Word on Love is timely, accurate, heartfelt and anointed. It is time for the Church of the Living God to move past “warm fuzzy” love to the kind of love that “never fails!” This new book will empower the honest, thoughtful believer to move into a divine love that can change the world. Now, this kind of world-changing love is the kind of change we all can believe in!"
Dr. Michael Lake, Chancellor, Biblical Life College & Seminary
"Given the proliferation of Gospel Garbage filling the bookshelves of Christian bookstores today, it is refreshing to read an instant classic like A Word on Love. While "love" is an overused focus in many Christian tomes, Bishop Ruth Smith's unique and penetrating examination of the subject is a needed perspective on the subject. It is a smart read; an inspirational read with great needed insight. Christian bookshelves now have fresh aroma emanating from A Word on Love. It is a must read for every Christian!"
R. David Ware, Executive Pastor, Light of the World Christian Ministries
"This book encompasses the core of our faith and the essence of the cross, which is love. The truth of this book stimulates and unpacks the one principle of loving God with all of our hearts, which in turn translate into answered prayers. As I read this book, it chased me closer to God."
Dr. Tanda Canion, Co-pastor, Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, Inc.
"I believe that this book though concise and easily read will become an important 21st century treatise on the wonder, the importance, the source and the real meaning and definition of God’s love. Thus, as you reflect on the lessons from this book, hopefully a culture of love based on spiritual meditation and Christ centered acceptance will flourish."
Dr. Dorothy Blackwell, College Professor
